When birth mom and birth dad don't get along

How do you handle having an open adoption with two birth parents who don't get along? For example, birthday parties. I feel like it would seem rude to invite one and not the other, or not invite either of them, but it's tough when you know them being in the same room together isn't going to go well. How would you handle this?
