This may be a long shot but I’m going to try! We brought our daughter home from the hospital and she’s been with us since. Birth mom said she had no idea who the birth father was. About 3-4 months into our adoption a guy came forward ( we’ve had a DNA test and he is dad) and is wanting his parental rights! Our daughter is now 8 months old. A TPR hearing has been set for August 2nd but birth dad just filed to establish parentage and change her last name. He done nothing for birth mom while pregnant and hasn’t done anything for our daughter. He also claims he knew about the pregnancy the whole time. He is a known drug dealer (we have lots of videos) and were terrified there’s a chance he may get her! He still lives at home with his mother and only works a part time job. Our state laws say he should have registered on the father registry within 30 days of birth Should have filed to establish parentage within 30 days Should have supported mom while pregnant Our lawyer doesn’t seem too worried but I need to hear from someone who has been through this!! I know there is always a chance he can get her but she’s been in our home 8 months already and we’re all she knows!
