Hello All,
my wife and I are Green Card holders and work in Academia.
We want to adopt a kid and as you suspect due to the fact that we are NON US citizents can be tough.
Some people say that Green Card holders can adopt a kid in the US (the child has a US citizenship). Some say not. I am confused.
Here is a background story to help you help us.
I have a dual citizenship (Greek and German). And this is the reason why I do not want (do not want to give up the others) to get the US citizenship. No offense my US fellows...it is just a personal preference.
My wife has a Greek (born in GR) and Canadian citizenship (acquired through her Greek mother that was BORN in CANADA).
Based on the above what is the best route?
1) we can adopt in the us a US child as Green card holders.
2) If Nr 1 is not valid then we can adopt a baby from Canada because my wife has a Canadian citizenship?
3) my wife can become a US citizen, without losing her Greek and Canadian citizenships (she has them form birth) and then we can adopt from the US?
PS: any good forum for adoptions in Canada?
Thanks All.
Cheers
