I just went through an international adoption from India. I am getting the adoption finalized in the US. The court hearing is on Dec 20th. Can I change my son's name to his new name at this step or is that a separate from the adoption finalization process? Anybody, please help!

From what our agency told us, is that when the adoption is finalized that's when the baby is legally yours, with the name you choose and new birth certificate with your name on it. Hope this helps!
