authenticating the adoption dossiers.
The dossiers must be bundled according
to the 8+ vital documents that are required
by the Adoption Centre. Each set of documents
must be authenticated SEPARATELY.
1. -Home study
2. -Petition to Adopt
3. -Commitment Letter
4. -Approval from the Adoption Authority of your province
5. -Marriage certificate
6. -Birth certificate
7. -Employee certification documents
8. -Financial records
9. -Police Clearances
10.-Medical clearances/documents.....
EACH set of documents need to be notarized and
then legalized by your provincial Governor General/
OR the Department of Foreign Affairs and International
Trade of Canada (address: Dept. of FAIT of Canada
125 Sussex Dr., Ottawa, Ontario M1A 0G2 -
Attn.: Authentication and Services of Documents
Section)
The cost to authenticate your bundles by the
Embassy of Ukraine in Ottawa or the Consulate
General of Ukraine is as follows:
$135/bundle for each legalization PLUS
$105/bundle for each certification of a translator
that is KNOWN to the Embassy of Ukraine (in
Ottawa) or the Consulate General of Ukraine
(in Toronto) (IF dossier is translated in Canada).
The cost to certify a translator that is NOT
known to them is $135 each.
Each translator requires to forward his/her
certification documents, diplomas and curriculum
vitae to the Embassy of Ukraine in Ottawa and the
Consulate General of Ukraine in order to become
registered with them.
For example...if you are submitting the 10 documents
that are listed above, the cost to authenticate the
bundles would be:
$135 x 10 = $1,350
IF your translation was completed in Canada by a
KNOWN translator to the Embassy the cost to certify
the translator for these 10 bundles would be:
$105 x 10 = $1,050
The total cost for the legalization and certification
process would be:
$1,350 + $1,050 = $2,400.
When the documents are being forwarded,
to them (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) must be forwarded
as well:
(1) The Embassy of Ukraine in Ottawa and the
Consulate General of Ukraine in Toronto accept
money orders and certified cheques only. Please
call to confirm the amount owing BEFORE you
send your dossiers to them, as payment must
accompany your adoption documents.
(2) A photocopy of all of the documents that are being
forwarded for legalization/ and certification;
(3) A pre-paid completed return waybill and courier
envelope so that the documents can be returned to you.
(4) All documents bundled according to the
new ruling.
(5) A letter requesting the services that you require
