In 1994, my ex-husband gave up his visitation rights but retained his responsibility to pay child support. He had the option to reinstate if he was willing to undergo psychological counseling (he's a convicted stalker) but has never done anything with it. We have waited such a long time - life is quiet which is good - but we are ready to move forward. So here are my questions:How difficult will this be to do myself? If it's going to be a huge challenge, can you recommend an attorney who will charge a reasonable fee?Do the ages of the kids carry any weight (what they want)?I'm going to buy the step-parent adoption book and see what we can do. Any help you could provide would be appreciated.Brenda

My husband has been the only father he has known. He knows about his biological father. I am just worried that because he has paid some child support he will try to block this adoption. Write back if you get a chance.
