Fannie's mother said that her name was "Ludelle Davis" though I'm not entirely sure this was true. She was a pretty young blonde woman who said that she was "from up delta way" (possibly Comubus?). Ludelle also said that she already had one 3 year-old daughter at home whom she could barely take care of, so she needed to find someone who could take better care of Fannie. One of the nurses at Charity had a friend who couldn't have babies, so she called her up and told her to come meet Ludelle. The friend was Willie Oliver, an amazingly loving woman, who along with her husband Robert, adopted the little girl, changed her name to Faye Ludelle Oliver and raised her as her own. However, the baby's birth father, a man Willie only remembers as "Mr. Dowdy", wanted his daughter back, so the Olivers hired a prominent lawyer, H.C. McCabe to help keep little Faye.
I have found nothing at all on these people and am extremely curious. My family doesn't seek anything except information. If you know anything about Ludelle Davis, Mr. Dowdy or any of the circumstances I described here, please contact me at: terra_tracy@hotmail.com
Thanks for reading.
