How does it work?

How does the Adoption Tax Credit work? My dh and I are considering adoption and are counting on the tax credit to alleviate some of the financial burden that adoption seems to carry with it. Does anyone have any suggestions of to where to find more information on the tax credit? Thanks!! smileygirl :)
