Hello,
My husband and I are hoping to adopt and infant, and we are having problems finding financial resources. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank-you,
April & Mike
Type in 'adoption financial services' on your computer. There are a lot of loans and grants available. I cannot answer as to how difficult they may be to get, but there are many.
I knew one person who 'advanced' on their credit card to get the money needed. I also know a couple that asked their church for money to complete their adoption. And......I know that in our case, the attorney and agency were quite willing to accept payments.
Best of luck.

(Been a long time, but I was an Air Force wife for several years and this is when we adopted our first two children overseas!)

Hi.
You also get 2K of your adoption cost reimbursed through the military. It does nto cover travel though and is considered pay so they do tax it. For more information someone in your family service center or whatever it is called for the AF should be able to help you with that.

Hi April & Mike,
My husband is AFAD and we are at Langley in Virginia. We've been talking to others in the same boat and some have tried going to the chaplain. We know of young airmen that get pregnant and go through the chaplaincy for advice. You might want to drop your birthmother letter off there. You would really save a bundle on agency fees and all. All you would need is a lawyer for paperwork. Hope this helps....
Blessings.
Thanks everyone for all your help. I am so stressed out with all of the adoption stuff, and your posts have been very helpful!

Sometimes, the military legal department will fill out the papers for your adoptionso there are no legal costs.. you might check there.
