That seemed reasonable, and I've completed the application and initial screening. It appears to be a slow time for birthmothers, so Im just waiting for more to sign up with this firm and review my family book.
But the second has a $1,000 non-refundable application fee, which will be applied to the total if adoption is successful. If I don't adopt through them, I lose the deposit.
Both come highly recommended by coworkers. IҒve done all of my homework both are reputable with outstanding success rates and only minimal minor complaints, none of which are recent.
I have a couple of questions:
Does the $1,000 fee seem reasonable? FYI, the total fees for this firm are quite reasonable. It's just the non-refundable deposit that is giving me heartburn.
Is it better to work with more than one firm at a time or just one? From those who have adopted already, what are the pros and cons of each?
Thanks in advance!

Also, it is more expensive to work with more than one agency. As far as the nonrefundable fee - this varies from agency to agency. You may want to ask the agency you are considering what their fee includes. A higher fee doesn't always translate into a better agency. As I mentioned above the best course is too go with an agency that is highly recommended. Good luck.
