After discovering at age 32 that I was adopted, I've only put in minimal effort to do a search up to this point.
Does anyone know how to get info out of the Charleston, SC Birth Registry that goes way back? My sister who is also adopted tried to stop by the health dept. and was told it was not accessible by the public.
The basics of what I know:
Born Friday night (12/27/1963), my mom's gyno called Sat. morning and said there was a baby boy up for adoption. Born at St. Francis Xavier Hospital. She checked with Dad and called right back saying "yes." On Sunday, Dr. Durst from Sullivan's Island was checking me out and made comment that the birth father was visiting the birth mother at that time. He was in the military, but don't know which branch (I assume either Navy or Air Force). About the only other thing I know is that the bracelet I was wearing as a newborn had the name BRITT on it. Don't know if that would be the mother's or father's.
Would appreciate any help that can be given.
Thanks,
Steve
