Hello!
I am working with an agency and my hubby and I just had our homestudy approved. Our adoption agency sends our profile to every branch in our state. However, there aren't too many AA baby's in our state, and the wait for a caucasian baby is ridiculous.
I feel that since we are open to any race we will leave the caucasian babies for those who feel that that is what they would be most comfortable with. I also have heard there is a big need for people to adopt AA or biracial babies.
My agency will send out my profile to any state where they have a branch located which is many of them. Which states have the shortest waiting times for AA or biracial babies, or even hispanic or Asian. What IS the average wait?
Thanks in advance!

PS Actually my insurance doesn't cover an adopted child over the age of 1 month. So even though I may want subsequent children who I get when older, I couldn't if I have this current insurance :(

I just went to the Lifeline Adoption website (www.lifelineadoption.org) and they now have an AA baby girl who is 6 months old up for adoption as well as little boys...thanks Linny for posting this website and for others to check it out as well! She's a cutie as all of them are!

We adopted a beautiful biracial son from the hospital and it was a beautiful experience!
Do you're own networking. We paid WAY too much, but we really thought the situation was worth the extra money - sorry if that sounds cold. I don't mean it that way, it just was a good assurance the birthmother would not change her mind and other reasons.
Check out the sites above - very good reputations - the nurture adopt lists for many agencies but United Adoptions is also great.
Best of Luck

Lifeline was very pleasant and they sent info to me; however, just as a sidebar.......45yrs is their cutoff age. I understand that this probably won't apply to most of you........but when I called them, this was the situation.
They also were kind enough to give me other agency numbers. The one they gave couldn't help (international)....but then that agency gave another and so forth. Lifeline DID tell me (two days ago....and it's Thurs. 06 Feb now)....that they had BOYS, but a waiting list for baby girls. Told me that placing boys was difficult right now....
Just to give info....

Hi!
Hope, I heartily agree. I also e-mailed Lifeline and they said "Fees for 2003 are expected to range from $16,000.00 to a low of $10,000.00." Otrageous! I think they should be placing these children, not holding them for ransom. Just my little ol' opinion, though.
We adopted through Bethany Christian Services for less than $9,000. It is income-based. We love them and are still involved in their support groups as proof of "happy endings."

I know we all have screamed, cried & complained about the fees. I'm probably leading the protest.:D I got a call this morning about healthy twin AA/CA girls born in Tenn. yesterday. The fees are $29K they are with an agency. The bparents are ready to sign. They had Aparents but they changed their mind. I don't know anything past that. Email me if you are interested.
Please don't yell at me about the fees... obviously I'm not paying it either.;)
