Is there anyone currently adopting or who has adopted from the Philippines with an AGENCY that could share their timeline? The wait to referral and then to travel? Also for those who have adopted what the trip was like? How long was the plane ride, etc.
Anyone????

We are currently adopting my Orphans niece and nephews in the Philippines. We just sent our preliminary application to our Adoption Agency (Catholic Charities of Baltimore) with that is our apllication to ICAB (Philippines agency who handles the Inter country adoption), their web site is www.skyinet.net/~icaba/
We are leaving in Virginia Beach, VA. Our agency told us that it will take 3 to 12 months for the assesment / investigation of the child/ren, then they want us to do the home study after that.
The trip from east coast to phils. is 24 hours. The usual itenirary is, like if your leaving from VA., VA. to Detriot is 1 1/2 hours, then 2 hours stop over, next is Detriot to Japan, 13 hours (straight), then 1 1/2 hours stop over, then your final destination is from Japan to phils is 3 1/2 hours. This is no joke!
Try to check with Northwest Airline (www.nwa.com) they have a pretty dicent special airfare about adoption: 65% off.
Good Luck to us.

Just wondering if you have gone to get your new little one? We started our adoption paperwork on Mar. 19,2003, and are going to pick up our new daughter in just about 3 weeks, which is almost exactly one year! My husband is Filipino, and was adopted from the same orphanage we are going to pick our daughter up from. They told us that is why it was faster than normal, and that it usually takes 1 1/2 years to go.
