Only 2 days till our Adoption is final. I am planning a celebration BBQ. I have invited a local clown that will make animal balloons, but thats about it, other than the sweet goodies that will follow. I am looking for more creative ideas on how to make this a memorable celebration for all of us. Can you help? Thank you :)
I have some ideas that may be meaningful to your child later in life.
If you have an adoption baby book, or if you have some sort of guest book like they have at weddings or receptions/showers, put that out and have guests, esp. family sign it.
Keep the newspaper from that day (even though things may look a little bleak now worldwide, it's still a neat momento).
If you made announcements/invitations/napkins keep one of each of those.
We always called this our "Family Birthday." I don't know if you want to do that, but we celebrated it every year.
Lots of pictures/video.
Don't know if this is a baby or not, so maybe I can think of more later.
There are several poems about adoption. Some are on these forums. Maybe someone could read one for the occasion.

Hi Nancy,
We are adopting a boy 6 and his little sister who is 4. Thank you for your suggestions. We are going to be taking a lot of photos. I do like the idea of starting a book for each of them with party mementos too. If knowing their ages happens to trigger any new ideas please let me know.
Sincerely,
Shelley
