So, how long does it take in the state of MO right now to get back your results on the FBI fingerprinting? We got printed mid July and we still have not been processed and have no idea when we will.It is my understanding that your homestudy can not be completed until the fingerprints are done. Is this correct? Can we go to AR or OK and have them done again there and have the results forwarded to our dss office (worker)?
How quickly did yours come back and when did you have them done?
Is there anyone we can personally contact in Jeff City to find our where we stand?
I had heard that it was taking 3-4 months, so yours should be soon. Have you contacted your fds worker? The whole fingerprinting thing came about after we were licensed, so we didn't have to wait.....must be frustrating!
I was told there is a huge backlog because of the conceal and carry permits.

We were told in the beginning that it would take 3-4 months. They said by the time we finished our spaulding classes our results should be back.
We have been talking with a worker at dss about when to expect the results back since late October. She has been saying for almost 6 weeks they should be in any day.
I guess the reason I am so stressed about this is that there is a child we want to be considered for (and non officially we are) but it can go no farther until we get the results back. And if the prints are not clear enough we might have to have them done over and wait 4 more months.
This just sucks!
I do know from a conference I was at a month or so ago that if they have to repeat them they can expidite the results, and I believe they said that if you are waiting on only that for a staffing for a particular child they can also be moved up. I think I would start moving up the food chain to find some answers!!
Ours (dh and I) were done in mid July and they are back. We were liscensed on the 24th and already have 2 foster babies. Only last week I was calling and asking about my fingerprints and thinking we would be lucky to get liscensed before Christmas.
Don't get discouraged. Use this time to enjoy long baths and full night's sleep. LOL

The wife and I are in a similar boat. We have a group of kids that are available, but we are waiting on prints. The staffing begins in Jan, but they are not in state, so I doubt they would wave not having prints. We had ours done the first week in Aug, and still nothing. Oh well, que sera, sera.

I had my prints taken in mid-July and they were back Nov 15th. I would guess yours should be back soon! I had to do a make-up for my STARS class so just had the last home visit last week. The home study has been turned in for editing and should soon be sent to the county :).

DH and I are being considered as an adoptive resource for a teen. We were foster parents in 2002-2004 and were not fingerprinted. We were told that this law was enacted due to TWO deaths in MO for little babies in foster care. There were issues in the family that were not turned up in the licensing process! Although it seems rediculious and takes forever, please remember that this process is saving lives - we've all seen foster parents we hope to be like someday and know how lucky their kids are; then we've seen the parents we wonder how on earth they got their license! Good luck - its hard to watch one family "slip" by that you think you are perfect for, but we know there are so very, very many that await! Good luck.

After completing my STARS/SPAULDING training back in May and waiting for approval, I was just contacted by my county re: the MO fingerprinting requirement. I know someone in another county in MO who sent two different sets of fingerprints in and after many phone calls (they go to several state offices) discovered both sets were lost. They ended up driving to Jefferson City, MO and getting them done on site which was much quicker. I've heard it only takes a couple of days for fingerprints to be processed for concealed carry permits. I wish they could follow the same procedures for completing home studies.
Our fingerprints were turned in late October and came back at the end of January/early February. We got frustrated and contacted our state representative. Our fingerprints came in a week after our e-mail to the representatives office. We were told it was coincidence. Who knows?
I've been told that the Highway Patrol is near to having contract support to help reduce the backlog, which keeps getting worse. The lastest is a requirement to fingerprint truck drivers. My advice, turn the cards in at the begionning of STARS. If they're not back by the end, call your representative.

Prints can be done on the computer at Jefferson City but I've heard they can no longer send them directly off to the FBI. All prints are going through the same system, so I wouldn't expect any differnces in turn-around time. I suggest you get your finger prints done by your local police department. They should be able to tell if the prints will be acceptable and are likely better trained in taking the prints in the first place. Good Luck!
