Biography

American Playwright

Albee has won three Pulitzer Prizes. His 13 plays (including The Zoo Story, The Sandbox, Tiny Alice, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Three Tall Women) are among the most famous in 20th-century literature. He was born in Washington, DC and adopted as a baby of two weeks into a wealthy entertainment-industry family in Westchester, New York. His adoption was not a happy one. He is gay.
