Colin Kaepernick and Adoption
Biography
1987 -
Colin Kaepernick is a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and has been since 2011.
He started playing football at 8 years old then continued playing throughout his school career. After high school, he was picked up by the University of Nevada. Kaepernick was also drafted in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft for the Chicago Cubs, but he turned it down to continue playing football for Nevada.
Rick and Teresa Kaepernick adopted Colin as a baby after his birth mother, Heidi Russo, placed him for adoption. Colin became the youngest of three children, including brother, Kyle, and sister, Devon.
Although, Russo severed all contact with the Kaepernicks when Colin was 9 years old, she recently attended a 49ers game wearing a Kaepernick jersey, which sparked debate on whether this affected Colin Kaepernick's performance and whether she should have been there at all, as Colin Kaepernick has said that he has no interesting in seeing her.
