hi all - we are considering using angel adoption in cary illinois for a private infant (facillitated) adoption. has anyone had any experience with them that they can share with us?
thanks!
tanya
I also live in Illinois and was thinking of using Angel Adoptions to facilitate my next adoption. But after talking with my adoption attorney, I found out that A LOT of attorney's and agencies will NOT work with them because: 1) they are not licensed 2) they are VERY misleading with the amount of money that they quote you. NO WHERE on their website does it tell you of the "other" expenses that could occure when you adopt, like birthmother living expenses, being responsible for ALL of the childs medical/hospital expenses. etc. 3) Courts could contest the "other" expenses because(from what I was told) it's illegal for FACILITATORS to charge you money for those expenses.
Just be very careful when choosing a place like this. Make sure that the attorney and/or agency will work with them.
Best Wishes,
Kenna B.

We adopted thru Angel Adoption in Cary Illinois twice and had a wonderful experience both times! We have a beautiful daughter who is 20 months old and a new daughter who is 2 months old.
They work in conjunction with a licsensed agency near them, so all of thier adoptions are agency assisted. Plus they have a big list of references they give. One of the postings had it wrong, they never have adopotive parents pay for medical or delivery. Occasionaly they will have a Birthmom that needs living expenses, but they will tell you about it up front. There are no hidden fees. The agency and the attorney come to just under $3000. plus Angel Adoption's fee. I have sent so many people to Angel Adoption and they have had great experiences. The directors are wonderful. They only take 30 couples at a time and I know they have a waiting list, but I don't think it goes that slow.
Check out their web site AngelAdoptionInc.com
Good luck to all, Mary F.
We have some friends using Angel Adoption in Cary. With the exception of one post, the feedback for this agency does not look good. They are just estatic that a birthmother recently selected them. All they know is that she is very young and only only 2 1/2 months along. I am so worried for them. That sure does seem like a long journey. Is this a reasonable time to wait for a birth? Does contact usually take place this far in advance?
We used Angel Adoptions in Cary Illinois this year. We contacted them before Christmas of 2002, and received a call in January of 2003 before we even got them our profile together. We had been working with a different agency for a couple of years and got scamed by them. However, we were pleased that Angel wanted paid after placement and after sign off of parents. So, we met birth mom February 1st in Chicago, baby was born April 14, 2003, a beautiful AA baby girl. I think it went fast for us because we are a caucasian couple willing to accept anything as far as race and sex. I was concerned that they might be placing us before other couples because we were "new money" to them, but they had no other couples seeking full AA infants at the time, and the new money thing didn't apply because no one gives them money until the child is placed!! Our fees were 5800.00 for Angel, and $1800 for Lutheran Child and Family Services (the licensed agency) and $2300 for the attorney. It was pretty smooth. The mom had public aid that picked up birth expenses, and the mom didn't ask for any other money. The hospital experience was really terrible, but the agency or the attorney could do nothing about that. I think the nurses just had a problem with us being white and the birth mom and baby being black. Please email me directly if you have other questions: aaron@stremmel.com Good Luck

Would love to discuss with you our feelings on Angel Adoptions and how they handled our adoption in 2001. :( Please feel free to email me privately, before you and your husband make any decisions.
We are not currently in the process of adopting another child. We contracted with Angel Adoption in November 2000 and our daughter was born November 2001. If you have any other questions, feel free to email us.
