WELCOME TO THE SEARCH AND REUNION MESSAGE BOARD!
NOTE: The State of New Mexico has a “Confidential Intermediary” search program that will locate birth relatives. Contact the adoption agency that facilitated the adoption or the Central Adoption Unit Office below:
Using a Confidential Intermediary: Adopted adults age 18 or older, adoptive parents of an adoptee under 18, birth parents, or birth siblings may petition the court to hire a confidential intermediary. If the adopted adult or birth parents are deceased or cannot be contacted, the court will decide whether to release the identifying information.

Identifying Information: Adopted adults age 18 or older can receive information regarding the birth parents, if the birth parents have filed consent. Birth siblings can receive information regarding an adopted adult age 18 or older, if the adopted adult has filed consent.
Obtaining an Original Birth Certificate: An adoptee must petition the court in which the adoption was finalized.

I have recently talk to someone at CYFD and she sent me out the paperwork to fill out and I have sent it back already. She explained that she would get the records from the court and then get back to me. What types of information is non-identifying and identifying? My sister said that she talked to a lady years ago to try to find our brother and they said that the adoption was closed on our end but open on his. What would be my next step if the agency can't reveal any information to me? And is there any information that I can ask for that they are able to give? This is all new to me.
