You can do it on your own. Get the Nolo Press book "How to Adopt Your Stepchild in California" and go to it. Also, if you are near Vallejo, call A.Aaron Associates at 553-9000. His office is funky but I found him most knowledgeable and I believe he has reasonable rates.
