My husband and I just got our paperwork signed by the judge to have a homestudy started. How long does it take here in Arizona? What does it all involve? How long does it take to find a child? We have 2 boys, 17 & 16, so we want and older child, a girl. Can anyone give us some advise in our quest for a daughter? We are trying to adopt and "older child" older than 8. Are we asking for trouble? In my heart I don't think so. All I have seen on these boards is children younger than that. What about the older kids? They need love and security too. We have so many questions. Can anyone help?

Go through Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (602) 254-2275. Through their program, you receive training, home study, foster care licensing and so forth. The training is a 9 week (once a week) course and the home study only took us a month. But then, we were highly motivated. Prices are reasonable too. Also, new tax law, while the kids are in your care (fostering) until the adoption goes through, tax credit. Good Luck!
