There are many more boys available than girls (5:1) so if the prosepective adoptive parents are childless, they cannot request the sex of the first child. If they already have child/children, they can request a girl but the wait would be longer. This requirement could be waived if you were willing to accept a special needs girl. But then again you must be married.
