USCIS just approved our I-600 petition. They said that they were turning it over to the National Visa Center. What happens next, and does anyone have any outside idea how long it will take for the visa to be issued?

Once USCIS approves your I-600 petition, it is sent to the national visa center. At that point the Customer Service People at USCIS don't have any more information about your case because it is at the NVC. If you call the NVC (which is through the state department-www.state.gov), they will have more information on your case.
