The Newfoundland site offers the following
http://www.gov.nf.ca/gs/gs/vs/adoption-records.stm
Adopted persons who were born and adopted in Newfoundland and Labrador will receive a copy of their original birth registration in their birth name (including the name of any birth parent on record) and a copy of their adoption order provided a disclosure veto has not been filed.
Birth parents of people born and adopted in Newfoundland and Labrador will receive a copy of the adopted person's original birth registration, the adopted person's birth registration following adoption (including any changes of name consequent to the adoption), and the adoption order.
Unfortunately, it appears that siblings aren't affected by this new legislation

Hope this helps

Thank you, you forgot to add they want 50 in canadian funds... That is where my search is always stumbling FUNDS :O)
Hi MindySue,
can understand funds can be a problem sometimes, unfortunately it does cost the $50, ........
Did your adoptive parents keep the adoption records?
Do you have any idea at all what your birth surname is?
Were you ever able to apply for and or receive your non-identifying information?
Did your adoptive parents keep the adoption records?

states non-identifying takes two years to receive, yikes!
and have you registered on the Passive Registry with the NFLD government ? It would be recommended.
and even though sometimes other birth family members aren't registered with their passive registry, doesn't always mean they don't want contact, it usually means that they don't know they have a place to register.

Yes, I sent away for all that over a year ago. I have an amended birth certificate. It doesnt even say which hospital.. time or anything. My adopted mom ( god bless her) is kind of shakey on any info.. She has given me every bit she has. I know she was assisted by a Bonnie of Salvation Army. She thinks my birth mom named me janet marie prior to giving me up. She also thinks she was about 16 with several siblings. She couldnt tell me where she came up with this info.. so.. its not fact. This year when friends and family ask what I want for my birthday I am telling them CASH... I want to send for the original certificate. I have already placed an ad in the Telegram and I would like to join parent finders. So.. cross your fingers..
