Hey all,
I'm Naiter - crazy old nickname that has just 'stuck' through the years. My husband and I are on the fun journey we all call 'waiting to exhale'. Just on the active list as of the end of September so trying to remain sane in the meantime. A new friend tuned me into this forum and I've been 'lurking' for a few days.
Just wanted to say hello. We're in Calgary.

Thanks Journey and Bug
After we lost our baby last year through miscarriage :wings:, the only place I found peace was an online support forum...thankfully, this is a happier experience.
Nonetheless, still hard to do the 'wait' thing. I'm not a very patient person, but if nothing else, I will be reminded that I am totally out of control and what will be, will be.

I am so sorry for your loss. We lost a baby to miscarriage in Dec 2001, and that is how I was first intro'd to online forums, looking for support in our loss that I couldn't find IRL. I'm glad you found us... I look forwarding to riding this rollercoaster with you!

'm sorry to hear of your loss as well. I'm just so thankful to finally be on a positive journey. Going through fertility issues for years and then actual procedures, followed by a miscarriage made everything "baby" bad, but for the first time in a long time, my huband and I feel as though there's a light at the end of the tunnel and this time it's not a train coming straight for us.

I'm in Lethbridge, so howdy from the south!
We have a little boy who is 2 1/2. We are waiting to be active to adopt our second. We decided the best option for us was to use a private agency in Calgary. hehe.

Thanks to Mommyto Be I am on this board also. DH and I are waiting for our 3rd. We are with a private agency as well as Public and hope the wait is not too long either. Our sibling group happened within 3 months 5 years ago.

Thanks for the 'hellos'. I hope to get to know everyone better. There seems to be so little in the world of adoption support - although I must admit, I'm just starting to explore this world now that it's a reality for us.
I finished reading a book this past weekend...20 Things Adopted Kids wish their Adopted Parents Knew - very intersting. (*not sure if I can refer to books by their title - sorry if not :confused:*)....started a new one this morning that CanadianMommyToBe suggested might be a good tool. Wow! If nothing else, by the time little 'un comes to us, I'll have a fat head of knowledge (let's just hope even a smidgen of it is useful).

Yes you can mention names of books, products and websites. What you cannot do is post the link to a website which is retail in nature. You also cannot discuss fee based adoption services.

Nope Mommyof2 - you decided not to get "Parenting Your Adopted Older Child", you got "Twenty Things Adopted Children Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew" and "All About Adoption: How Families Are Made", however I still have a copy or two of "Parenting Your Adopted Older Child" available. I will be working on compiling the books for sale list and posting it to the agency website. I also think that we have all of those books in the library so you could sign it out too. Any parents on the waiting list have full reign on the library, I think we have all the books that are listed under "Resources" on the website.
