Just curious are you one of those parents that so dislike noise in your childrens toys?
Do you make sure that grandpa and grandma don't buy those noisey toys?
I don't have a problem with toys that make noise. Most of the toys T is getting from Santa makes noise. I do have a rule that they are not allowed in the car. If the sound gets to be to much I tell the kids they need to play with it in their room (with the door shut) or outside.

I generally have no problem with noise makers. There are a few that have become outside only toys, though. ;)
I think that toys should make noise. But for some reason my brother in law thinks that all toys should be silent. I just think its important for kids to have the noise...even if it is annoying for the parents. I think we would all agree that at times it does get annoying...but the kids learn from sound to sight. Its must me thinking this....lol
Depends on the toy---some I find way more annoying than others. H has some little car w/ a pig in it (eye roll) that makes pig snorting noises when it goes. I hate that one.
I usually test the toy before I buy it to see if I can stand the noise it makes.
Some are ok. Some are obnoxious. Some are really, really way, way too loud.
Sometimes batteries 'run down' very quickly and we just keep 'forgetting' to buy new batteries. Or when the kids go to bed and the Battery Fairy visits and mistakenly takes the still usable batteries from the toys...not that we would ever have that happen at our house! (Whistling innocently.)
As I type I'm listening to 3 boys play with 3 toys that each make a variety of electronic noises. I think the word 'cacophony' doesn't even begin to describe what it sounds like. Amazingly the kids can hold down the noise buttons on these things indefinitely, too.
Of course the bright side to this whole issue is that sometimes the kids get to learn more about manners; like being kind to one's elderly mother who can't take that noise for another second.

Definitely depends on the noise it makes, but so far I haven't hated anything we have for our son. This is his first Christmas and one thing I noticed, all the toys seem to make all sorts of noise. Honestly I remember when I was a kid, I'm 38, and we just didn't have toys that did all this extra stuff, noise, lights... I mean, I wanted to buy him a drum, just a plain old drum but I couldn't find one except something called a "Classic Toy", and you would think those so called "Classic Toys" would be less expensive right? Heck no, they charge more because they're Retro and they know nostagic idiots like me will pay an arm and a leg for a plain old drum, or a jack-in-the-box, or a bigwheel. The drum I did find is that one on wheels that connects with another drum, they might be bongos or something and you hit them and they play an entire tune...
Sorry had to vent a little.
We only had one toy that drove me CRAZY - It was a Thomas the Train pull toy - it went:
Chugg Chugg Chugg Chugg
Chugg Chugg Chugg Chugg
Chugg Chugg Chugg Chugg
Chugg - WHOOT WHOOT
Over...and Over...and Over again
Funny thing is, it wasn't even that loud - it was just that rhythmic repeat of the Chuggs....Other than that, I can pretty much handle anything (although I will admit that 2 toys, plus 2 boys, plus tv as a background noise will occasionally drive me nuts) lol.
6 teens + 1 stereo playing oldies records + 1 Xbox + 2 dads with guitars + 2 toddlers without naps + 3 little boys playing lions and tigers + chatting mommies = any day we visit my sister :D
