Hi All
My wife and I are looking to adopt from Colombia. We were well down
the line of adopting from Guatemala when political circumstances meant
that the UK was no longer dealing with adoptions from that country.
Though we have completed the home study, we are to a large
extent 'starting again' - any info would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Don and Anne-Mari

Hey guys,So sorry that your adoption from Guatemala got interrupted, but Colombia is a great country to adopt from, and you will find lots of info on this forum. It might help you to read through some of the older posts, but I'll try to give you a brief synopsis. In Colombia, you have the option to adopt through the government's foster care system (ICBF) or through private orphanages (casas privadas). You do not have to go through an agency to adopt through ICBF, but you do need an agency to adopt from a casa. Colombia does have age requirements. To adopt a child age 0-2, the primary caregiver must be 38 or younger. Colombia also has many older childen and sibling groups that are available for adoption as well. Good luck with your process, and if you have specific questions, feel free to ask away!
