I need some advice. My DD loves to lay on her stomach in the tub and drink the water. She is 17 months old and I still have a heart attack each time she does it. I had read a story about dry drowning and am more worried now about water and drowning than I ever was.
Am I overly concerned? Should I find a better way to stop this than taking her out of the tub so quickly? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
What about taking a shower with her instead? If it were me I'd be concerned too. Both my DD (27 months) and DS (14 months) try to drink tub water and I don't allow it. I'll remove toys or take them out early as necessary. Same with the pool. Good luck!! :)

Yes, I think you are a bit overreacting, even though I'd be more worried about her drinking dirty bath water than drowning (although drowning probably is statistically the more worrisome issue).
I have a mantra that I use, "No drinking bath, pool or toilet water--ever!" I probably tell my 2 1/2 year old that 3-4 times a week.
Truthfully though, it probably isn't really that big of a danger (either from drinking the water or drowning). If you're worried about drowning, you just need to stay in the room with her, at all times.
