Well my friend has at least one half brother and one half sister. When I sent a letter to Mr. Huxoll, he has not replied. We really need medical histories of both families. Is there anything else that can be done? Her birth parents were married apparently. How can he just ignore this child when it is such an important health matter? He won't have to have contact with her... WE NEED HIS HELP:grr:
I used a Confidential Intermediary service and they said they could send a second letter but no more after that. I don't know if it related to their policy or if it then crossed into breaking a law. But if you did want to send a second letter you could include a form to fill out that makes it easy to detail the family health history showing degree of relatedness but not names. You could include a self addressed stamped envelope to return it in. You may also try being specific about what is currently going on, i.e. unknow issues with the heart etc. If you think that is worth a shot let me know and I will search for the form - I posted it in one of the older threads from this year in the adoptee support forum. For what its worth - my father could not be bothered either...seems so petty to me. At least with the name you can figure out nationality and be aware of any diseases common but it doesn't help a whole lot. Kind regards,Dickons

The link to the form is http://www.hhs.gov/familyhistory/downloads/MyFamilyHealthPortrait--English.pdf If the half sibs know about your friend then why bother with the father? Are the half sibs willing to share medical history? Fathers from that era were given a free pass from society. They seldom had any contact with the mother throughout pregnancy and were not part of any decision making. Most were not even required to sign relinquishment papers. To some of them and their families I would imagine they do feel like we were throw away babies - out of sight - out of mind...just skeltons in the closet... Kind regards,Dickons

I will contact the 1/2 brother. It is worth a try. Thing is, he and the birth mother were married..that is why I have a difficult time understanding why he is being like this. He told his other children about the daughter...so why sweep her under the carpet now? He's a rotten excuse for a human being in my opinion
