It only took my husband and I to leave the continent for a day to get our ICBF approval...
We left yesterday for Scotland for my husband's business trip and we found out today that we have received ICBF approval for up to three children up to age 10.
Our dossier has been sent to the Risaralda Region. Who can help me out with information about this region? I'll research more when I can get more reliable internet...for now we have to sit in the hotel lobby to get connection and my husband has to get back to work.
We're pretty excited!

Megan, I am so excited for you. Here is what I can tell you about Regional Risaralda. There are 5 Centros Zonales in the Region: Pereira (the only big city), Dosquebradas (which is a very poor city right next to Pereira), La Virginia, Beln de Umbra, and Santa Rosa de Cabal. The last three are small cities in the coffee growing region -- in Santa Rosa there are some cool hot springs. Risaralda is one of the smallest states (sizewise) in Colombia. The people there, like those of Antioquia, are called PAISAS. I have been there and it is BEAUTIFUL -- with BEAUTIFUL weather. Not hot, but nice and warm. We have a Colombian family that went there last spring -- here is their blog. You can go back and read about their experience there. Colombia Bound~La Familia Derr If you need the name of a Pediatrician for an independent medical evaluation. I know one personally. He is the brother of my sister in law. He is really good and does all sorts of presentations all over Latin America and even in the US. I know you read Spanish and have probably Googled it already, so I won't bore you, but it is a beautiful place to be from. Congratulations!!!!

Wow...thanks for the great info! It is so funny to be desperate for information about Risaralda and Pereira since we are in Scotland for a week. I hit the local library for my temporary library card and decided to do some research this morning, but this site was blocked because it somehow violated their very strict policy on s*x education (I'm not sure if I can write that word in a post even). I only had limited time online at the library and it was a small library. Once my husband got back from work we headed out to supper with others from his company and we just got back and it is already time to go to sleep.
Regarding the timing of our referral, it is still unknown, but it will likely be sooner rather than later.
Thank you again for your encouraging words and your research on my behalf!
Megan
My husband is laughing because I am replying to my reply...oh well.
I just checked out the Derr's blog - what a cute little guy! I also noticed that their time in country was so fast. Is that common in the Risaralda Region? Also, do most families adopting from this region stay in Pereira and where do they stay? I know our agency has not had families with referrals there, so they are working through those same questions, but they gave us limited options in Bogota and I'd love some other options when we do get a referral.
Thanks for anything you might know!
