My mother was born on 7/20/43 (no birth certificate to confirm). Adopted in Missouri or Kansas through Catholic Charities. She recalls hearing about St. Vincents/St. Anthony's home for unwed mothers. Private adoption to a loving couple who raised her in Kansas.
I am her daughter and I am giving this a try. I have searched the forums for a long time hoping that someone would be searching for her. So far, nothing.
Searching for siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles of this beautiful woman.
*I have no ID info, no birth certificate, no names.
I'm a St. Anthony's alumnus (class of 1950.) There's a very good chance that her records were duplicated in Kansas, which is an open records state; Marilyn Waugh at SRS in Topeka found my complete unredacted identifying info, including my birth parents' names.
Tell her to call Marilyn at 785-235-6122 or email Marilyn at waugh5@cox.net
In my case, though Missouri would not give me anything except my non-ID (which turned out to be enough to find my birth mother) the process of adopting across a state line meant that home studies etc. had to be done in Kansas and the files were essentially duplicated - and Kansas has no restrictions upon access!
SRS tries to cross-index every file under birth name as well as adopted parents' names, but the more info you can give Marilyn the easier her task.
Good luck!
