I have raised a lot of kids so you would think I would know the answer to this, but this is a new one for me.
My 6 month old fs, is a relatively poor sleeper but used to wake up happy. The last few weeks he will fuss to let me know he is awake and when I go into his room as soon as he sees me he just starts to scream and kick, I can't pick him up fast enough, he is in an all out rage, after I pick him up it takes about a minute before he stops crying. He really is a joy, but when he wants something and you don't get to him fast enough he goes into a screaming rage. Are these temper tantrums or something related to his drug exposure before birth. It is really freaking me out because he is really mad for about a minute. I hope this isn't a sign of future behavior. Any thoughts?

Our FD was not exposed to anything prenatally, and she, too gets into these screaming fits when we don't get to her soon enough. We call her our little diva, bc sometimes, she just wants to be picked up and carried, and there's nothing wrong. But if you don't know her, you'd think she's in some terrible pain or something, the way she starts squealing!
We let her scream for a bit before coming to her, and I try to have her calm down before I pick her up. I'll stand next to her and talk to her, motioning that I'm about to pick her up, but won't do it while she's screaming. Hopefully, she'll associate hushing up with getting what she wants, instead of the screaming being rewarded.
You can imagine our shock and panic the first couple of weeks we had her - she's our first placement, and we don't have any other kids!
