It has been over 2 months since the inspector came and proclaimed us "licensed and ready for placements". I spoke to my resource worker who claims he never sent in the forms and we are not down as licensed. We tried to call the inspector back but no response from him. Anyone have this happen? How do I speed this along? How frustrating!!!

I just viewed this post, sorry i haven't responded! I am from Monmouth County too. I had the same experience with not getting our license. I called the Office of Licensing in Trenton and they told me they were backlogged because it was summer. We were licensed in August, 2009. Hope this helps! Good luck!-Kate

Hi Kate, thanks for answering! We finally did get licensed and our resource worker came out to see us last week (we have had so many CW change on us, it tok us 2 1/2 years to get licensed!) But, finally, we are ready to go!We have 7 bedrooms with 3 beds empty, and she agreed to give us a waiver if they had sibs. We are interested in a sibling group (or singles) whatever comes our way! :) LMK where you are, maybe we are close by? It would be nice to have someone to go through this rollercoaster with :)
I'd be surprised if you didn't get a call very soon, especially since you are willing to take a sibling group! I turned down some placements in the beginning when we needed a break, but Monmouth county seems to be very busy. We are in Neptune so we are licensed with the Asbury Park office. I have friends in Ocean County who are foster parents and they get fewer calls. We are licensed for two and I had a set of sibling sisters who were 2 1/2 and 1. They were a handful, had been in lots of foster homes, and we made the decision to take only one child after they left. I have a nine year old son who is autistic and requires lots of attention. He loved having that devilish two year old, tho!!! We also have our homestudy in the adoptive unit in Trenton so if a legally free child becomes available for adoption, we can straight adopt. Another good reason for us to take only one! Are you hoping to adopt or foster? It is good to know someone else in Monmouth County. I have a really good pediatrician who takes both state Medicaid and the HMO's too if you're interested. Just let me know! Talk to you soon-Kate
