I was born March 10th 1981, in Nashua NH (as far as I know), and was adopted through LDS Social Services (I think it was in Concord, NH). I don't know too much because my records are sealed (and despite NH opening up records they for some reason can't open mine, I'm guessing it's because it was a closed adoption through LDS SS) I would like to find my birthmother or birthfamily-not looking to mess anyone's life up, just would like to get in contact if they would, and would really like health/medical info, as well as heritage info. Please help me if you can.

Unfortunately I can't afford the fee for the non-identifying info much less an attorney right now.
I spoke with NH LDSFS the other day (and it was difficult, the lady on the phone/receptionist was really nice and seemed like she wanted to give me more info but was unable to...) and when I asked her about the request for contact form she told me I should just write a letter and send it to NH LDSFS and they would forward it on to SLC to be added to my file....but that didn't (and still doesn't) sit right with me, especially after some of the things I've read. Seems like everytime I want to search or begin searching I get blocked by the cost. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that they charge money to release a copy of the non-identifying info to you (when I'm sure the adoption itself cost money)....Plus, I know that my parents (adoptive) actually somehow ended up w/ identifying info accidentally, because when I was a teen there was an incident where we lost all the records my parents had (and they had lied to me and told me they didn't have any info for me....I was going through a rebellious phase, and was really struggling with being adopted), and my mom told me that my birthmothers name was (and THIS MAY NOT BE CORRECT, I WAS VERY YOUNG AND MAY NOT REMEMBER CORRECTLY, OR MY MOM MAY HAVE HAD THE WRONG INFO FOR ALL I KNOW) Yvonne Pollard. But any type of searching costs money. Then I'm running into the issue (and this sucks) that NH passed some laws that were fabulous for people who were not adopted through a private agency that allows people info they didn't have previously. But LDSFS is a private agency and they go by the laws at the time of the adoption, so I'm out of luck there. I'll keep digging, but as a single mom who is working, going to college, and taking care of my daughter by myself, I do not have funds at all to put towards this right now. I'm just going to have to wait, and see if maybe someday she ends up actually looking for me and running across this site. *sigh*.
