We got an follow up IEP for E because he don`t do nothing in school or at home without help.
An OT got him tested since the last IEP for reflexes(non integrated primitive reflexes)(Maro, Spinal galant, ATNR,STNR,Landau and Amphibian). She told us that he still have some and this could be the problems with focussing, fidgetting and lack of concentration. She told us she could train us to do rhytmic movement training. Anybody have experience and results with this?
We did something similar called Interactive Metronome. It was done with our OT and helped our some a little in a few areas.
They work on the basic principal of getting both sides of the brain connecting. It's a great concept, but many of these types of therapies and interventions are sold as a cure all. Our neurologist feels that these interventions can be helpful to varying levels, but hates that parents are told to expect these drastic changes. The truth is, there is no cure all for the types of neurological deficits our kids present. Time, patience and a whole lot of adjusting of our expectations and parenting styles is the best bet, imho.
If you find a provider, can afford a trial and want to then go for it. It's not something that can hurt, and it sometimes helps even, but results vary because of the varying neurology of our kids.
