My son's bio dad is in prison and will be for another couple of years or so, I think... This is his second trip to prison for felonys (this one drug related, previous gun related I think) Prior to his incarceration he had seen my son a handful of times. The last visit he made I mentioned child support. I said he needed to be consistent and see my son every other weekend and he needed to start sending a check monthly. This angered him. He said "So, I have to pay to see my kid?" I laughed out loud.. of course you have to pay to see your kid. Kids cost money :) The next weekend he was to see my son was my little sister's first prom and my son was needed for some super cute photos :) so I called him to reschedule. He was angry, but I gave him a weeks notice and appologized. Then I didn't hear or see him again. His mother has been inconsistently in and out of our lives. I tried really hard to have a relationship with her for my son's sake, but she blames me for her son's (bio-dad's) mistakes becaue I wouldn't be with him when I got pregnant. She has an excuse for him every time I talk to her, so eventually I quit talking to her. My husband has been in my son's life since he was 1. When my son was 2 he said, "Momma, I wish (hubby's name) was my Daddy." My heart shattered in a million pieces. Many emotions! Well, to the point, we are in the process of a step parent adoption. Bio-dad has been served, but won't sign over his rights. Our home study is coming up and cour will be next?... I don't have a lot of questions, just looking for support. I am a nervous wreck. My hubby is such a good man. He is nothing like the bio-dad. I hope the judge sees it to be in my son's best interest to have a hard working dedicated dad and to terminate bio-dad's rights.
Any comments welcome.
Thanks!
