You can't do an adoption yourself as far as I know. We were in the same position and we had to have an attorney to do the legal work for us. It is less expensive but still costly. Please hire an attorney so are covered in all areas legally!

if it is an stepparent adoption you can do it yourself as long as the otherone is not fighting it
