Dear Courtney Family,
My name is Daniel Arthur Welsch and I am an adoptee who has been searching for my birth parents and birthfamily without much success. I have enclosed in this letter, all the vital information that I have in the hopes that someone may be able to help. The new information from New York State has been added.
I was born on September 17th, 1956 in Buffalo, Erie Co., New York, at the Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital. I am searching for my birth mother , Mary Courtney and I don't know if this was her married name or her maiden name. I do not know my birth fathers name, and I do not if my birthmother and him were married at the time. The time of birth was 2:02 p.m. and was a single birth according to the birth certificate Im allowed to see. My adoptive parents told me, that at the time I was born, my birth mother, (Mary Courtney) lived at 77 East Tupper Street in Buffalo, NY. This has been verified through the POLK registry for 1956 & 1957. Mary Courtney lived or rented this address from 1956 to 1957. The Polk index only lists Mary Courtney, no male listing. This is the same situation, as the hospital bill made out to Mrs. Mary Courtney... no husband listed.
Arthur William Welsch and Nellie Alfreda Welsch (Rainey) adopted me, and during this time lived at 494 Carlton Ave., Buffalo, NY. Arthur Welsch was a Fireman for the City of Buffalo. In addition, my adoptive mothers children from her first marriage (Charles, Edward and Robert Heberlein ) lived there during this time.
I have the original hospital bill for my birth. The bill is made out to like this:
Mrs. Mary Courtney
3rd.
My adoptive father Arthur W. Welsch, I believe, paid this bill on September 23rd, 1956. (In case you wanted to know, to have a baby boy in 1956 cost a total of $167.85). My adoptive father kept a scrapbook (which I donҒt have), in it were newspaper articles, which I was told were about my three (3) birth relatives that served in the Vietnam War. I did see these articles but didnt retain any of the information, nor have I been able to get it since my a-fatherҒs death.

I was born 11/30/1964 in Manhanttan. My parents were in a relationship at the time of my birth but were not married, and gave me up due to pressures from my birthmother's family and strong religious values. My birthparents were both 19 at the time of my birth, were planning to attend college (my mother to be a history teacher and my father to be a veterinarian).
Does this sound familiar to you?

Carrie your info sounds so much like mine! I was born 7~11~70 in buffalo NY. My birthparents were strong catholics and not married at the time of my birth. Please e~mail me @ beachfzl@aol.com if you feel this could be a match. Catholic charities on washington street handled the adoption.
Carrie,
I was born in Buffalo NY in 1965. I was born missing my left hand. I recently found out that the people who originally wanted to adopt me couldn't because they were not Catholic. Other than this I really don't know much. Maybe this is a shot in the dark but it would be great if this is a match. Good Luck Katrina

I am trying to help a woman locate her Bfamily. She was born 2/18/65 in Buffalo, NY. Her Bmom named her Kimberly, possibly. Her name on birth certificate is Baby Girl Lusher. Mean anything?
I came across this while looking for myself. My brother was born in NY, August 1971 (or so we were told). We think his birthdate is around 8/27/71. He was not adopted as a newborn as I was. He spent a few years in foster homes and we got him when he was 3 years old. We don't know anything about his birth parents. The name he came with was Craig.
He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was adopted through Angel Guardian in Brooklyn. Any possibilities?

I was born on 2/5/1969 and adopted from the buffalo area. It's a long shot, but the desciption of the parents situation sounded similiar from what I know.
Hi... I am trying to help locate bfamily members of a female born 2/16/65, Buffalo,NY. Name on birth record at time of birth, was Baby Girl Lusher. Adoptee was told her Bparents were not married. She is very tall, average body build, has brown hair and blue eyes, and suffers from chronic pleuresy. Please reply if you feel there may be a connection. Thank you. Please reply to my email address.
Hi,
My name is Jan. I was born Berniece Leigh ? in Buffalo NY July 8, 1970. I was adopted out of Niagara County Social Services when I was 3 months old. I was told that my b- mother had a child 3 years prior to my birth. My b-mother was 21 years old when she had me and the B-father was 30 and married. If this sounds like a match, please post back on here.
Thanks, and good luck.
Hi Jan,
The adoptee that I am trying to help was born, according to amended BC, 2/18/65 buffalo. Her Bmom wasn't married to bdad and he was married at time. She doesn't have a lot of info. Aparents didn't want her to look for bparents. She sent for non-id info. from NY but never received anything. This female is very tall, dark hair and blue eyes and suffers from pleursy, chronically. Her Bname on BC is Baby Girl Lusher.
There is another female that doesn't know for sure where she was born, as there is no paper trail and she believes her adoption was not legal. she was adopted into PA. She is average height, brown hair w/ reddish highlights, hazel eyes and has a birthmark on back of one leg. Her DOB(falsified) is shown as 7/4/65.
If either of these fit who you are looking for, please reply.Thank you.

I was told by my dad that I have a sister who was born on August 2, 1971 (or 1972?). She would have been born in Buffalo NY and the adoption agency was in Buffalo as well. Parents were unmarried; mother was Catholic. I was born in 1961.
