Just starting

We are just starting our process of looking into adoption, but we are certain we want a Brasilian child. I have relatives in Brasil and lived there when I was younger; I also speak Portuguese. Does anyone know how long a typical (if there is such a thing!) adoption takes? We are not looking for an infant, but rather a young child, around 3 years of age. All the info we have read on this board so far has been very helpful. Thanks!
