I posted a longer message on the special needs board, but briefly - am just wondering if anyone has had their child speak up for themselves at a school meeting. My son is 9, regular education with a 504 service agreement. Has a full time aide and some minor accomodations. He has successfully completed attachment therapy, main issues now are sensory integration. School simply does not understand and treats him like a behavior problem. My son asked if he could go to his next meeting. I think it will do my son some good to explain what he needs first hand, with me there to support him. He uses all these accomodations at home with good success, but at school does not speak out (A legacy of neglect, I think). Has anyone tried this? Input appreciated. Thanks, DimasMom
