Fortunately spring break is not much of anything in PA. Kids have off Fri, Mon, Tues and Wed (usually it's just Fri and Mon). I work in the human services field - so have Fri off. Booked my son some dr's appts on Tues, so I'll take that day off. Otherwise will have him in day care. I really try not to do more than 1 full day at day care at a time. It's too noisy, too unstructured for my son. But he does better there than at a private sitters home (maybe it's like the orphanage, and for some reason that works for him?). Day care is also run by a former special ed teacher. She is able to manage my son well when he is too much for the staff. Summer is my bigger challenge. Here in PA the kids are out by the first week of June. None of the summer programs start until July (because they are all based in NY - where school goes at least 3 weeks longer). I try to book his summer up with day camp (YMCA) and Sensory Integration camp provided by his OT. Our school does have a summer school program in June for Chapter 1 reading kids. While my son no longer qualifies (Yes - he is now reading on grade level!!!) - I am hopeful they will still let him in due to his need for structure. Another helpful thing in PA, is the wrap around program (for kids with a mental health diagnosis). For the summer I have requested a 1:1 Therapeutic Staff that will accompany my son to camps, etc. Just got approval earlier this week for 35 hours per week of TSS plus 10 hours per week of a master level mobile therapist who will spend those hours directly with my son, guiding the TSS (bachelors level). He's been approved on a local level, just need to get approval from Harriburg next. So looks like we'll get thru spring break fine, and summer is well on it's way to being covered. Life is so much easier now that my son has an attachment to me!!! Again - thank you Art!

(And I want to do it now, while he still likes me and looks forward to travelling with me - he's 11 - rather than wait until "a vacation with Mom" will be the last thing on his "wants" list!) We're both pretty excited. I am a bit nervous about travelling, but refuse to let those nerves stop me!
