Does anyone know if base legal deals with adoptions that go through agency/facilitator? We know they do adoptions when your adopting your stepchild. Were going in sometime next week to talk to them but were curious if anyone has used base legal to do their adoption?
I believe it depends on the base. We are at Langley AFB and they emphatically do not touch adoptions. It appears to be the same for surrounding bases in the area. We've called and check the services of other legal offices and they all say they "don't do adoptions". I think if you push for assistance with paperwork, after you have done a lot of legwork, they will assist you. So I hope your legal office there can help.

We're currently licensed foster parents with Monterey county CA and looking forward to adopting. We're just starting the adoption process and don't know how much JAG can help, but will keep you posted. If anyone knows more about what JAG can or will do, please let us know.

We are station at Camp Lejeune,NC and we were recently told that base legal only deals w/step-parents adoptions or if both mother & father are able to sign, which is rarely.:(
