If the natural father doesn't respond then a social worker comes to your house and interviews you, you spouse and child - makes a recommendation to the court and 30 days later it's official - usually takes anywhere from 4 to 7 months to complete.

Originally Posted By StaciaNot quite sure how they'd handle that - in light of the fact you don't know who the father is and you obviously have never received child support, I'd think this would be a fairly easy case - perhaps the newspaper notice simply states your child's name, date and location of birth - this would give the possible father an opportunity to step forward if he was opposed to the adoption.
