I've met others in various forums who are Lutheran. I thought it might be kind of fun to check in here and introduce ourselves. I am a life-long Lutheran (as long as you don't count my being baptized in my mother's EUB church). I am an ELCA pastor, ordained in 1994 and I am the birth/first mom of a son born in 1972 who was adopted by... a Lutheran pastor and his wife. (All I was told was that he was a "mainline" pastor.) D and I have been in reunion since October 2005.
What about the rest of you?
I have been reunited for 7 years. It has been WONDERFUL! She is now married and I was soo blessed to be able to attend her wedding and my son stood up in it! Sorry about taking so long to respond. The childrens ministry I am director of begins on Sept 12th and it's always nuts (in a good way!) right before we return!

I'm sure, lots of planning and set up as you get ready. I would love to have that challenge! I serve older congregations with more funerals than baptisms. I spent most of today on the funeral of a 93 yr old.

Are you working to build your congregation with a younger generation? If so.. Do I have a program for you to look at for kids! It is awesome!
I'd be glad to look at it. My difficulty is that most of the congregation is content to come to worship (when it suits them). They say they want the congregation to go, but someone else needs to do the work. (Sigh.) I have a couple people in each church who have a passion for the mission of the church and I'm working hard to buld them up and support them (without burning them out.)
Drop me an email and I will send you the information on the program we use. It's a program that draws upon the passions of the people who are teaching and brings it to the classrooms! We have grown so much since starting this program!

I sent you a pm.
I'm trying to write my newsletter "epistle" for September. I think it gets harder every month.
Welcome to the "Lutheran line" LOL. Sounds like you could really have a houseful soon! What part of the Lutheran World to you hail from? I am ELCA from PA and a life long Lutheran (although I was baptized in an EUB church!) My husband joined the Lutheran church when we married.

If you have voted, San Francisco Asian Escorts thanks, but remember to forward this invite to everyone else you know.
And I won't know who's won until voting's over - as we're all entered into a national chart afterwards.

Hi, I need prayers to help bring awareness to my Indiegogo campaign; "Let's Cut to the Chase", so that I may raise funds to support my grandchildren. My grandchildren were illegally adopted in August 2010 and taken to Nigeria in May 2011. In March 2012 the adoption was set aside, but the perpetrator is trying to have it overturned. I cannot for the life of me understand how this has happened. There are so many steps a deserving citizen must go through and this man, a convicted felon, is able to adopt within two years from being released from prison. Please pray that I can raise the funds to support my grandchildren and to work to find how the system failed.
Hi! I'm Lutheran though not life long. My husband was Methodist and I was raised Baptist. It was a second marriage for both of us,so we were looking for a small church for a private ceremony.I, had never attended a Lutheran service, but had been to Luther League with my Lutheran neighbors on several occasions. I thought the Lutherans might be a little more tolerant. We were married in a small LCMS church, just us and the pastor. We knew that adoption was probably in our future and would need a church. I finally got enough nerve attend a service then talked my husband into going with me. We really liked the liturgical style of worship. The church supported us through our two Guatemalan adoptions. (daughter 1988 and son 1990) The children were raised Lutheran. My daughter met a Lutheran from the Midwest and they were married in the same church in 2009.(There aren't many Lutherans in the deep South, so it was kind of a sign from God) The church has had its ups and downs, but has managed to survive. I'm still a member ,but have been visiting an ELCA church across the bay.I don't know if I'll change.

Welcome. I am an ELCA pastor; although I was baptized EUB (predecessor body of the UMC) because that was my mother's home church, I was raised in the Lutheran Church and have deliberately remained so. I like the Lutheran understanding of Christianity and the liturgy nurtures me. Why have you chosen to attend an ELCA congregation? (Pure curiosity on my part.)
Multiple reasons. Our new young pastor(ex Marine) just out of the Seminary changed to a closed communion policy. After 27 years I couldn't go to communion. (our bad,we never got around to converting) I converted, but it was a bit of an insult. The main reason was that my daughter and SIL were going through a very difficult time.My SIL had to move back to his home town to gain custody of his son to keep the child from being placed in foster care. This has taken a year and a half and my daughter couldn't go with him. Some comments were made by people at church and I just didn't feel comfortable anymore. I knew I need God and a safe place to worship during this time. People at the ELCA church are very friendly. I put in a prayer request for my son in the Army(stationed in Afghanistan) and more people have inquired about him than in the church he was raised. I will probably go back to the LCMS church when this is over, but have really enjoyed the ELCA church. We did get our miracle! SIL and son should be home for good in two weeks. Sorry this is so long and thanks for asking.
