It is my understanding that there were questionable adoptions (or rather concerns about kids classified as orphans). The INS wants to work with the Cambodian government to get guide lines in place to prevent the problems that arose with those families and insure legitamite orphans status. This is to protect kids too and their birthparents and the adoptive parents. Instead of just a petition stating we want the adoptions going now, why not pressure them AND Cambodia to work quickly at an agreement on guidelines to ensure ethical adoptions.

If the INS could show evidence of a parent or group of parents that have been taken advantage of and have be coerced into placing their child in an orphanage, I would not have any problem with the investigation. I believe they are going about it the wrong way. The idea behind the petition is to get the attention of the government so that they know that there are many Americans that care about the welfare of the Cambodian children. I just put it out here in hopes of getting more signatures. No one is telling you that you have to sign it. Thanks for reading it though.
