Angela explains, “It wasn’t that I didn’t love my children or didn’t want to be a mother to them . . . I didn’t know how to be a mom and had no idea how to stay clean from alcohol and drugs.” Angela’s six children were removed from her home because of her addiction. Eventually Angela was able to become involved in a family involvement program. The very social worker who helped keep Angela from her children reached out to Angela to include her in family involvement. She knew that Angela loved her children but just needed more tools. And so, as a team, Angela, the social worker, and others worked together for the good of the children.
