First time adoptive parents can feel intimidated as they begin exploration into adoption. Being bold and “shopping for an agency” is an appropriate path to take. Remembering that, just as with all important things in life, money isn’t the entire issue. Quality in an agency is vital.

This panel discusses points that will be helpful as you decide the adoption route you wish to take. Establishing a relationship with your attorney or your caseworker is vital. Knowing your social worker will advocate for you and will be thorough and honest is another vital aspect of choosing your agency or attorney. Consider talking with other adoptive parents to get recommendations! Ask specifics – what has been good, and what has been bad?

When you do your homework, you’ll have the information you need to make appropriate choices for your upcoming adoption journey.
