Andy is a sweet, shy, young man. He enjoys looking at books, using sensory toys such as Theraputty, and spending time outside. When visiting the playground, Andy likes being pushed on the swings. Andy also enjoys playing with Legos, watching television, and eating his favorite foods. In his current placement, Andy interacts in close proximity to his peers. They often engage in parallel play and spend time together doing different activities. Andy prefers one on one engagement or being alone to complete a preferred activity. Although Andy is able to understand the English language, he communicates his wants and needs using simple phrases, basic sign language, and a PECS book. Andy likes to receive affection from his caregivers through high-fives, hugs, and gentle back scratches. The people in Andy's life say that Andy is lovable, quiet, and has a great smile. He requires a structured and routine environment. Staff stated that Andy has favorite foods, eats independently at mealtimes, and will clean up when prompted.
