Tampa Bay Rays pitcher, Chris Archer, went well beyond what was requested of him when he mentored Zachary for a day, as featured in the video above. The young teen was chosen by the Pinellas-Pasco Heart Gallery to be featured as an adoptable child. That feature included photos, a video, and a day of baseball.
Zachary was matched with Chris Archer for the day and the two found they had a bit in common. Chris was adopted by his maternal grandparents at age 2. He sees adoption as a great blessing and shared his story with Zachary. The result was a glorious day and a touching video that reached the eyes and heart of retired Air Force couple,
Terri and Mark Schreffler. The Schrefflers had been looking for just the right child to fill their empty home after their children had grown. Seeing Zachary, they felt the draw and immediate connection. Now, after 3 ½ years in foster care, Zachary has a home, his own bedroom, and a forever family.
