A Letter From My Birthmother

A son shares a letter written by his birthmother

Jessalynn Speight January 17, 2014

There is so much birthmothers want to tell their birth children in the hospital, but can’t. A letter is the perfect way to keep the child  feeling loved and understood. Letters are a great way to fully explain why a placement has happened, explain the love that surrounded the decision, and talk about why their adoptive family is so amazing.

Every adoptee wants to know where he or she came from and why. It was a beautiful opportunity for this birthson to have this letter to get him through.  A sweet memento for any birthchild would be a similar letter.

It gets real for birthparents at 3:30.  David’s words to his birthmother soothe the fears of every birthmother. It is amazing how birthmothers will often feel concerned about everything this man lays to rest in this video.
